Death Threats

I got my latest death threat recently.

Honestly, it is becoming fairly common for me to get threats, even death threats. The latest is actually pretty mild. A convicted criminal, stolen valor creep and alcoholic by the name of Dallas Wittgenfeld (in the picture above, on the left) owns a site where he tries to attack those he hates. He is partners with people like Bohdi Sanders (Middle above) and David Richardson (right.)

Last week, I was sent a picture from his site of a corpse with a toe tag with my name on it. It was so low on the amount of threats I have gotten that all I did was share it on my Facebook timeline to show people just what type of person I deal with. My friends started to remind me of what to do, and I will use this case as a lesson for others.

Do I think Wittgenfeld is going to do anything other than what he can do behind the safety of his computer? The chances are very low. He is a major league stalker, spreading lies and working obsessively to make up stories about those that have helped expose him. He teamed up with noted fraud Frank Dux because the military claims of both of them were shot down by the same sites devoted to outing military frauds. (Ironically, it was Dux that helped expose Wittgenfeld and prove that the site he uses to attack people is run by him instead of someone else as Wittgenfeld tries to pretend.)

Wittgenfeld has a long criminal history involving alcohol like DUI, drunk and disorderly, etc (he even once tried to fly a plane while blotto) and stalking, harassing, ignoring restraining orders, etc. But he does live in Florida, while I live in Colorado. I somehow think the chances of him showing up are rather low.

But he is friends and works closely with Bohdi Sanders, who helps him as he harasses and threatens those that expose frauds and their families. Bohdi Sanders lives in Colorado, and is probably just a few hours away by car if he wanted to show up and confront me. But Bohdi Sanders has proven to be reluctant to face anyone. After a good amount of time claiming that his detractors should come and face him, he got a call from someone in what is called the Extreme Budo Federation that the caller was waiting outside for him to come out and throw hands. Minutes later, the caller got a call from the police from Bohdi’s city. Bohdi had called the cops while he hid inside his house. As it turns out, the caller really was a few states away.

So even so Bohdi is closer, even he is probably never going to do anything in person. Though farther away, David Richardson is much more active. I tossed him out of a Facebook group and he has been active in telling me I have to kill myself and bringing my family in on his threats. But so far, Richardson has stayed safely in California and has made certain to never challenge me. As the challenged party, I would make him come to Colorado and I would set rules that would really hurt the loser. So he has made threats and spread lies, but never taken a step to actually face me in any way.

So, if all these guys are very unlikely to step out from behind their computers, why should I take any action?

Well, just because the chance is low does not mean there is no chance. Frank Dux for one is famous for sending others to do violence against others while he remains safe and far away. David Richardson even confirmed this in something he wrote.

So in cases like this, it is best to file a police report. Yes, you may feel silly, as I did. But even if it is something small, the other side can escalate. Who knows what the other person might do later on? Big things usually start small and move up in the scale of threat. And if someone like Dux finds someone to send against me, there needs to be a paper trail.

Without a paper trail, later encounters will be he said/they said. Who are the police to believe? But with the report on file, if Dallas Wittgenfeld steels himself with liquid courage and tries to shoot me at my home, it will be harder for him to try to claim I invited him out and tried to ambush him. If anyone tries to burn down my home, the police will know at least one possible lead to start looking into.

People have gotten threats, ignored them and when they eventually had to kill the threateners in self defense, had to go through hell trying to prove that there was history. If you shoot someone in your driveway, it is a good thing to be able to show that they sent a threat saying they were going to ambush and kill you. Otherwise you have to start trying to show that there was a reason you thought they were a threat to your life. And the burden in self defense cases is on the person defending themselves to prove their acts were justified, and not on the state to prove that they weren’t.

So get the paperwork started. If you get a threat or have an encounter, go to the police. It takes them about five minutes to write things up after they come out to talk to you. Give the facts and only the facts. I should not have to say this, but never lie to the police. A false report is a felony in many areas.

On a related note, Bohdi Sanders has been trying to say someone threatened him with a note. Those in the know scoff at the idea and have called for proof in the form of a police report number and the like. So far, he has ignored such calls. This deepens the conviction that he is lying and trying to use a false claim of being threatened in order to help promote himself. If he did file a false police report, he would be in serious trouble when it was discovered. And that seems to be the reason he is claiming to have been threatened without giving the details of his report.

Incidentally, my report number is 20-749 with the El Paso Country Sheriff’s Office and W. Rubio was the officer that took it. See how easy it is to prove you made a report?

And once you have a report number, if any other threats or important information comes in, you can use it so they can easily add to the pile of evidence against the threatener.

I have to mention that you can expect the police to do little other than take the report. Keeping yourself safe is on you. Unless the threat is very clear and the threatener very identifiable, the police can’t be counted on to even talk to them.

A few years ago, another friend of Bohdi Sanders made threats on the lives of my kids. Ron Collins is a child rapist that I helped send to jail, but he avoided prison by being sent to a mental hospital instead. Once he got out, he waged a crusade against me that cumulated in him going to Denver, about an hour North of me, and posting stuff about how he could come down anytime and burn my house down while my family slept inside.

Of course I did what I am supposed to do and reported it to the police. They took the report, but nothing else. When a friend of mine found out the exact address Ron Collins was staying at in Denver, I could not get the police to return my calls.

Was reporting the threats by him a waste of time? Not really. Even if the police did nothing, if they rolled up to my house one day to find Ron Collins’ corpse on my front porch, I would be in a much better position to avoid jail. When you defend yourself, you have to prove that you acted in self defense and knew there was a threat to you. After Ron’s frequent comments about burning my family to death as they slept, and my documenting that I knew he was making those statements in the police report, my lawyer would ask the jury if they, as reasonable people, wouldn’t act immediately as soon as he showed up to their house. And that would be a very hard case for the DA to prosecute against me.

Incidentally, Ron Collins now sits in prison on a federal firearms violation. He left Colorado without ever coming closer than Denver. His excuse for being out here was that he wanted to challenge me to a fight, just challenge. His talk of burning my family to death was all couched as being what he could ‘hypothetically’ do. When I arranged for a venue for us to fight at, as he claimed was all he wanted, he left on a train the day I booked the gym for. He later tried to intimidate his critics by buying a gun and showing it off while talking about his haters on a series of Youtube videos. But because he had spent time in a mental hospital, he had to lie on the form and that is what got him convicted this latest time around.

So, the important lesson is that the police can’t be expected to protect you. Self defense skills, awareness and everything else is still important skills you need to learn. But you must file reports to cover yourself for when and if the threatener actually makes a concrete move and you have to explain your actions to the legal system afterwards. It may seem like nothing much to worry about, but take if from one who has had someone come out to my state and start talking about killing my family, it is best to start early and establish a pattern of escalating behavior on their part than start later on in the process.
